Kosher Rules
Divided and Conquered

The kosher rules that follow are dependent on an assumption.

We assume that everything you bring into your home -
or anywhere you go to eat - is kosher.
Just keep using our site!)

The Top of The List

The primary regulation now becomes
the prohibition of combining meat with milk.

Even when both the meat and the milk are kosher
they are not to be mixed. Avoiding this
mixture is the centerpiece of a kosher home.

Click here for the kosher rules relating to forbidden mixtures.

The Rest of The List

In addition there are restrictions placed on
foods that are derivatives. By that I mean any
primary ingredient that is derived from other foods including

Each of these foods is in some way, unique.
That is why there is a separate page and link
for each one of them.

Another staple - bread - merits it's own page.
Two companion articles are about dough
and about grain and all grain products.

The Biblical laws of tithes, gifts and land usage
are in another group of regulations. They apply to
Israeli produce.

The last set of regulations discusses a number of
rabbinic safeguards. They protect kosher standards
when there is interaction with others.
Domestic employees are one important example.

Getting There!

You are to be congratulated...
you are almost finished!

Through exposure to these pages you now know

  1. what species are accepted as kosher
  2. under what conditions a kosher animal is permitted
  3. what are the processing requirements
  4. what to do with ingredients before you can eat them.

We have a lot more valuable information to provide
but - as of now - not many more rules or laws.

You already know most of them.
(You have been reading all the pages in order, right?)
The next section is not about kosher rules.
It's about techniques.
They will help you keep your kosher kitchen
running smoothly and staying kosher.

We call the section "How Do I Handle It?"
(which sounds much better than "Here's What Could Go Wrong")!

Relax folks and read on. You're almost there!
